At Eva and Bengt's (July 4-8) - 2

The next day Eva and Bengt's son Jacob joined us for a hike in Stenshuvud National Park. This park is on the eastern coast of Skåne and got its name (Sten's Head) from a giant living in a cave in the 97 meter high hill.

Beside the hill there is a nice beach, but we were ready to search for frogs,

because that is Jacob's specialty. He is an expert on frogs, snakes, and other reptiles. Unfortunately, we did not find any frogs today.

One reason for missing the frogs was that a thunderstorm surprised us! This was basically the only bad weather we had during our whole trip (except the snow storm in Jämtland).

So, we broke off our quest to find frogs or snakes and went to Cafè Annorlunda (Cafe Different). This cafe is an all-you-can-eat cookies establishment. For about 9 dollars you can eat as many cookies and drink as much coffee as you want.

The place is really quaint with old-fashioned furniture and lace tablecloths.

And the cookies were very tasty....

After the cafe it was time for a new attempt to get to the top of Stenshuvud. On the hike up we walked through what I would call a "trollskog" (a troll forest). The trees were in clusters and would be great as climbing trees.

The view was definitely worth the hike. Since this large hill is surrounded by flat land and the Baltic Sea, the view is great in all directions.

After Stenshuvud National Park it was time to rejoin our quest to find out the truth about Ale's Stones. Bob Lind had told us that there was another circle of stones that he had found and that was similar to Ale's Stones but slightly larger. This site was called Stenhed.

After driving around in the countryside for a while, we found this sign which had been set up by Bob. So it has to be here. We left the car to find the stones, and yes, there they were.

They are on the property of a big farm and have been almost covered by sand.

According to Bob, some of the stones have engravings of star constellations. Which one this is, I don't know.
After successfully having found Stenhed, we went to Killans bönegård (The Prayer Community of Killan) where we were going to spend the night. This is a place for retreats, meditation, pilgrimages, and praying organized by a group within the Church of Sweden.

We were the only guests this time. It was Eva's and Bengt's friend Katarina, who had invited us to spend the night there. She is one of the key figures in the activities at Killans, and she had prepared a wonderful vegetarian dinner for us. If you know Swedish and want to know more about Killans, click here. She also led the prayers, which some of us attended.

Killans used to be the pastor's home and has a big garden where we had dinner and breakfast.
